Johan Rycken - founder

(°1957, Antwerp) graduated cum laude in both flute and chamber music from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels. He has performed as a soloist at music festivals in cities such as Lausanne, Geneva and Lyon. Johan Rycken has an extensive performance history, both nationally and internationally, as a member of chamber music ensembles and as a soloist. In the realms of music education and organization, Johan Rycken is exceptionally active.

Since 1993, he has been a flute teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Antwerp. Additionally, he also teaches at the Art High Schools in Brussels and Ghent. With his wealth of experience, enthusiasm, and dedication, he has conducted numerous courses and workshops. For over 15 years, he has organized an international course featuring renowned musicians from Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, and Poland.

Johan Rycken is the founder and manager of the Flemish Chamber Philharmonic and Philharmonic Orchestra Flanders. As the manager of these two orchestras, he tailors them to the client’s needs. Each orchestra has its core group of musicians who commit to the operation of each orchestra throughout the year. These musical friends provide homogeneity and dynamism within the orchestra, creating sparks of enthusiasm and musical immersion that resonate with the audience.

Flemish Chamber Philharmonic

A smaller ensemble than a symphony orchestra, it usually has one player per part, creating a more intimate sound. Chamber orchestras often focus on Baroque and Classical repertoire.
